Robotic Knee and Hip Replacement

Robotic knee replacement does not mean that the robot does the surgery. The Robot essentially helps in planning the surgery and guides the surgeon in taking the bone cuts with digital documentation of all the parameters. Other than bone cutting , every other step of surgery is done by the surgeon

Well that is a debatable issue. Conventional knee replacement has stood the test of time and has delievered 98-99% success rate for the last 30 years. A well done knee replacement is a combination of skills judgement and experience. Robotic knee replacement was introduced in India around 2017. Early results suggest that the initial pain relief and early recovery is better however in terms of long term results the robot is yet to prove itself. The limited literature on long term results fails to show any significant advantage.

It depends on hospital to hospital. However, most hospitals would charge anything between 30-50000 extra for the same

Yes . However currently only the MAKO robotic system from Stryker has the option. The other robots as on date yet do not have that option. But again long term benefit is questionable

Yes . Robotic knee replacement is available with us in selected hospitals .
